About Akshayakalpa Organic: Akshayakalpa Organic was founded and seed-funded by 27 technology professionals in 2010, who believed that India’s agriculture economy is structurally weak, denying millions of farmers the fruits of economic growth that is otherwise enjoyed by those in the industrial and service sectors. The challenge for the founding team led by Shashi Kumar and Dr. GNS Reddy was to create a farm model that is financially self-sustaining and economically rewarding. In short, the idea was to create a free market system for agriculture patronised by consumers willing to pay the right price for quality farm produce and farmers having access to the best-in-class factors of production.
Dairy, as a critical constituent of India’s half-trillion-dollaragriculture economy, chose to lead the Akshayakalpa experiment in a 24-acre model farm in Tiptur in South Karnataka. Today more than 1600+ farms owned and operated by individual farmers and spread over 5000 acres of farmland are part of a robust, self-sustaining and financially successful tribe of farming entrepreneurs who produce high-quality, nutritious organic milk.
The success of the Akshayakalpa model attributes to Indian dairy consumers’ willingness to pay the correct market price for what they value and the farming model with centralised veterinary, mechanical and agronomy services delivered at the farmers’ doorstep. As a result, every day, more than 3,00,000households in Bangalore, Chennai and Hyderabad have access to the best quality organic milk and other dairy products, enabling a three to four-fold growth in the monthly income of dairy farmers.
While organic milk supply assures a higher daily earning for the farmers, the Akshayakalpa model has also opened up new income streams through beekeeping, backyard poultry, Banana, Coconut, Greens and Vegetables grown on the same dairy farm.
Today Akshayakalpa is not only India’s largest organic milk brand but has created new benchmarks for sustainable farm practices that help produce milk and milk products free from antibiotics, synthetic additives and chemical pesticide residue.Since 2010, more than 40000+ customers, nature and animal lovers, and media professionals have visited Akshayakalpa’s Tiptur farm to get a first-hand experience of the flourishing biodiversity hub and see state-of-the-art production facility that processes more than 1,00,000 litres of milk every day.
