A new 24 bedded day care facility was inaugurated today by Smt Dr Tamilsai Sounderrajan, Hon’ble Governor of Telangana and Hon’ble Lt. Governor of Puducherry in the premises of Basavatarakam Indo American Cancer Hospital & Research Institute. The facility was constructed with the help of a generous donation given by Dr. Raja Sekhar, who established RekhaRajasekhar Foundation in the memory of his wife who succumbed to Cancer.
Later Smt Dr Tamilsai Sounderrajan, Hon’ble Governor of Telangana and Hon’ble Lt. Governor of Puducherry has participated in a program arranged in the occasion at auditorium of BIACH&RI. The program begin with Singing of National Anthem followed by traditional light lamping ceremony by the dignitaries on the dias. Later Dr RV Prabhakar Rao, CEO, BIACH&RI has welcomed the guests by explaining various facilities available in the hospital.
Speaking on the occasion, Smt. Dr Tamisai Sounderrajan has appreciated the efforts of BIACH&RI in providing solace to hundreds of cancer patients. As a doctor she never expected patients to come to her with a disease burden but at the same time treating those unfortunate patients suffering with disease gives her immense satisfaction she added. She also suggested that more awareness has to be created on cancer thus reducing its prevalence rather than fighting for treatment. While acknowledging the difficulties in running a health care facility as doctor, she lauded the efforts of BIACH&RI and its management in running such large facility in which 25% patients are provided with free or nominal fee based treatment. She also appreciated the efforts of Sri NandamuriBalakrishna in taking forward his father’s vision in running a world class cancer facility.
On the occasion, Hon’ble governor also appreciated the initiative undertaken by Dr Rajasekhar Rekha Rajasekhar Foundation setup in the name of his wife and donating Rs. 50 lacs for the benefit of cancer patients. She hoped that Dr Rajasekhar and his family members Rajiv, Ranjai and Ranjan will undertake more such valuable program in future. Specially mentioning the presence of her husband Dr Sounder Rajan, a renowned Nephrologist in the program, who wished to visit such medical facility and wanted to appreciate the efforts undertaken to such facility for cancer patients.
Dr Tamilsai Sounder Rajan has pointed out various comments made against her appointment as youngest lady governor of the state of Telangana criticizing how she can handle newly born state. She explained that as a Gynocologist she has learned and mastered in handling new born and is performing well even in the case of Telangana, which is also newly created state with that experience she gained as doctor. Further adding to it, she also pointed out extended criticism on her appointment as Lt Governor Puducherry,She explained that a gynecologist known to handle a new born who comes out of world as a single or in the form of twins or triplets. She also explained that being a medical professional, always loved to visit health care organization.
Speaking on the occasion Sri Nandamuri Balakrishna, Chairman, BIACH&RI has explained various initiatives undertaken by the hospital in order to provide world class treatment by bringing in latest technologies for the benefit of cancer patients. He also promised that hospital will always thrive to work towards fulfilling the vision and aspirations of Smt & Sri Nandamuri Basavatarakamand Nandamuri Taraka Rama Rao. He thanked hon’ble governor for participating in the inaugural program despite having busy schedule due her twin responsibilities along with her husband.
Later Sri Nandamuri Balakrishna, Chairman, BIACH&RI has felicitated Smt Dr Tamilsai Sounder Rajan and Dr Sounder Rajan. Later Hon’ble governor has falicitated Dr Raja Sekhar and his family members who donated fifty lakhs through Rekha RaniFoundation setup in the memory of his wife. Later in the program Dr TS Rao, Medical Director, BIACH&RI has proposed vote of thanks and program ended with singing of National Anthem.
Earlier on the day after reaching the hospital, Smt Dr TamilsaiSounder Rajan has paid homage to Late Sri & Smt NandamuriBasavataraka Rama Rao by garlanding their statues. After paying homage to founders of BIACH&RI, hon’ble governor proceeded to inaugurate the newly setup 24 bedded day care ward and formally inaugurated by cutting the ribbon.
These programs were attended by Smt Dr Tamilsai Sounder Rajan, Hon’ble Governor of Telangana & Hon’ble Lt Governor of Puducherry along with Dr Sounder Rajan, Sri NandamuriBalakrishna, Chairman, BIACH&RI; Dr RV Prabhakar Rao, CEO, BIACH&RI; Dr TS Rao, Medical Director, BIACH&RI and family members of donor Dr Raja Sekhar along with his sons Ranjit, Rajeev and Ranjan and doctors, staff members, nursing and paramedical staff, nursing students.
