55th Annual Conference of Nutrition Society of India at NIN


Hyderabad, 22nd November, 2023.
Nutrition Society of India (NSI) is the largest organization of the nutrition
scientists, academics, researchers, policy makers and students in India with more than
6000 members. The Society holds its annual conferences every year at the National level.
This year, the 55th Annual Conference of NSI is scheduled to be held on 25th & 26th
November, 2023 at ICMR-National Institute of Nutrition, Hyderabad along with two pre-
conference workshops on 24th November, 2023.
The theme for this year’s conference is “Nutricereals for One Health”, which aligns
well with the International Year of Millets (IYOM) declared by the United Nations
General Assembly. The conference aims to discuss through symposia, debates,
workshops and high profile talks by experts drawn from multiple stakeholder groups. A
keynote address that sets the tone for the event, a symposium on “Sustainable Food
Systems for One Health”, and a panel discussion on the “Health Benefits of Millets”. In
addition, there will be a debate on ‘Can taxing Hight Fat Sugar and Salt (HFSS) Foods
bring down Non-communicable Diseases (NCDs) in India”
. The regular features like
plenary sessions, award sessions, free communications, poster sessions and most
importantly the Orations will make the conference very enriching. This conference will
also witness more than 450 oral and poster presentations by researchers and academics
across several parallel and poster sessions. Over 1300 delegates and 200 volunteers and
from ICMR, ICAR, NITI Aayog, CSIR, INSA etc will be participating in the conference
Dr. Rajiv Bahl, Secretary to the Government of India, Dept of Health Research,
MoHFW & DG Indian Council for Medical Research (ICMR), New Delhi is the Chief
Patron and Dr. R. Hemalatha, Director, ICMR-National Institute of Nutrition and
President of NSI is the Chairperson of the conference. The inaugural function will be at
9:00am – 10:00 am on 25th November, 2023 at Auditorium of ICMR-NIN in Tarnaka.
